General Information

Enrollment Procedure

Oliver Elementary School welcomes you to our community. We hope to make the enrollment process as easy as possible for both students and parents, and are available to answer all of your questions. Parents & guardians may use the online registration link on our district website to complete the online enrollment. For more information, please call or visit our front office during school hours. Oliver serves Hurtsboro, Pittsview, Seale and part of Ft. Mitchell. If you live in Ft. Mitchell please check with Transportation to make sure your address is zoned for Oliver prior to completing the registration packet. Parents who do not know their school attendance zone should visit the Russell County School District website. Keep in mind that school offices will be open on a limited basis for summer. Parents are encouraged to submit their registration as soon as possible to avoid delays. 

In order to enroll, your child must turn five on or before September 1st. In order to be accepted, the following documents must be available:

  • Current Alabama Immunization Form
  • 2 proofs of residence (utility bill, lease, rent receipt, etc.) (If you live with someone else you must also have a notarized residency statement)
  • Proof of age (birth certificate)
  • Social Security Card requested, alternate number will be assigned if not available
  • Picture ID of parent/guardian
  • Guardianship paperwork if applicable

We cannot accept registrations without appropriate documentation.

If you are not zoned for Oliver, you may request a transfer. Transfer requests must be submitted and approved prior to registration. All transfer students (students zoned to a different school, but that attend Oliver) must complete the transfer form and be approved each year. You may print the transfer form from the district website. Please turn the completed form into the school office. If you have any questions, please contact the secretary in the school office at 334-468-5400.

Arrival & Departure

Morning Drop Off (8:00-8:30 EST):

Students may enter campus at 8:00 AM EST. All students should be in the classroom by 8:30. Breakfast is served in the morning from 8:00-8:20, so students wishing to eat should arrive before 8:15. 

Morning Car Line: 
  • Remain in your vehicles
  • Have students unload on the right side of the vehicle
  • Have students prepared to exit the vehicle as soon as you reach the unloading zone (i.e. backpacks, jackets, etc.)
  • Remain in line after your children have been unloaded (do not pull out around the car line)
  • Thank you for your patience and your partnership in ensuring a safe drop off for all of our Blue Jay learners.

Afternoon Departure (3:15 ET)

Departure begins at 3:15 PM EST. Car riders are dismissed first and should be picked up in the car line in front of the school. Student names should be displayed in the front window. Please remain in your vehicle and a staff member will walk your child to the car. All car riders should be picked up by 3:20. Bus riders will be escorted to the buses by faculty or staff.

Afternoon Car Line
  • Pre-k Parents should enter the west (side) gate between 2:45-3:00. If you arrive after, you will need to enter the regular car line. If you have older students to pick up, you will pick up your pre-k student, exit campus, and circle around to the regular car line.
  • K-5th Parents-- Should enter via the normal car rider entrance. But the line will wait in the car lane BELOW the crosswalk to allow the prek parents to pick up students. K-5 dismissal begins at 3:15. Please remain in your car, and a staff member will walk your child to the car.
  • Display your child's name clearly in the front window, so our car line will run smoothly and safely. You may request an OES car tag from your child's teacher.

Our policies and procedures play a critical role in helping every student achieve the highest level of academic success and providing a safe, respectful environment for all members of the Oliver Elementary School Community. It’s important for every member of the school community to read and understand current policies and procedures. Therefore, each family received student handbooks containing school policy and procedure information when they registered. Students don’t always learn at the same pace, and it isn’t uncommon for a student to fall behind or struggle at some point in their academic career. Oliver Elementary School cares about the well-being of every student and provides access to several services to help each student achieve to his or her highest potential. We encourage parents and students to voice their concerns and needs so we can work together to find a solution that works best for each of our students. Volunteers

Parent and community involvement in our school is critical to the success of our students, and we’re always looking for new volunteers. Whether you can spare lots of time or just a little, getting involved with Oliver Elementary is rewarding and fun for both parents and students. Just contact the office and let us know where you’re interested in helping out, and one of our staff will contact you to discuss volunteer opportunities that work with your schedule.

Withdrawing a Student

  • Contact the secretary at hilll@russellcsd.net to get the withdrawal form.
  • Email the completed form to the the secretary.
  • Return school items (Chromebooks/i-Pads, textbooks, library books, workbooks)
