Media Center
About The Library Media Center
The Oliver Elementary Library Media Center is a very busy place. All classes visit the LMC weekly for a story-time and/or an information literacy lesson and to check out books.
Our Mission
Assist members of the OES community in becoming effective seekers and users of information, to foster a love of reading, and to build a foundation for lifelong learning.
In collaboration with the school’s learning community, the library will provide support for teaching and learning by providing access to a quality collection and technologies.
Checkout Policy
Students in Pre-K - First are allowed to have one item checked out at a time. Second - Fifth graders are allowed to have two items checked. All students can keep the items for one week. Students can renew a book for additional time. Lost or damaged books have a $15 fine.
Library Collection
The library houses approximately 10,000 items for student use. Follett Destiny Library Manager, an automated circulation system, is used district-wide, which enables each RCSD library access to the library collections at all schools in the district. Destiny can be accessed from anywhere, 24/7, helping to strengthen the bond between the library, the classroom, and home.
Mrs. Knoll, Media Specialist
I started my career by teaching third and fourth grade in Gwinnett County, Georgia. During my years as a classroom teacher, I developed a passion for our school media center. I found the media center to be beneficial to my young learners. They could gather and use information on any topic while developing a love of learning and reading. Therefore, I returned to school to obtain my masters degree in school media and technology. Afterwards, I accepted a library media specialist (LMS) position at Oliver and I have had the pleasure of guiding our wonderful students to find information and exciting books ever since! At home, I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and two sweet daughters!
